Instead of using new raw materials, we transform trash into treasure to show that upcycling can be sustainable and luxurious.

We collect our glass from local establishments in Los Angeles.

When we first started making jewelry from discarded glass, we used empty cosmetic bottles and wine and beer bottles we had at home. We immediately went through all our empty bottles as it was a challenge making glass gems that met our quality standards.

To continue our upcycling journey, we reached out to local restaurants and bars and were able to find several establishments that donated to us. Since these restaurants regularly have the same or similar types of bottles, we were able to easily test the glass quality and color in order to make uniform Eco Gems.

Our Upcycling Journey

These restaurants are supportive of our upcycling journey and we couldn't have made it this far without their help. They are a vital part of our efforts to be sustainable, to create new objects from used discarded materials.

We always welcome other businesses to join our mission! If you would like to be a part of our upcycling journey, please email us at info@thecled.com

From trash to treasure

Upcycling Process

Our virgin materials are trash! Fortunately (but unfortunately), it will never be in short supply.

Over the past years, we've collected glass from local establishments such as restaurants, glass shops, friends, and family. We appreciate all of your donations.

Did you know that less than 35% of glass is recycled in the US, and the rest goes to landfills? Using discarded materials instead of new virgin sources is practical and can reduce waste that ends up in landfills.

We create high-quality CLED Eco Gems from discarded glass and incorporate them with metal using traditional stone settings and jewelry techniques. All pieces are hand-made in-house, meaning our jewelry is meticulously controlled in quality and details.
